چکیده
purpose: to compare the safety, efficacy, predictability, stability and complications of wavefront-guided laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy (lasek) in low myopia, myopic astigmatism and high myopia correction. methods: in his retrospective study, 416 eyes were divided to 3 groups: 159 eyes with low myopia (lm) and mean refractive spherical equivalent (mrse) of -3.68±1.33 (sd) diopter (d); 161 eyes with myopic astigmatism (ma) and mrse of -5.99±2.24 d and mean cylinder of 2.41±1.07 d; and 96 eyes with high myopia (hm) and mrse of -7.41±0.80d. after an epithelial flap creation, a wavefront-based excimer laser ablation was performed. safety, efficacy, predictability, and stability were evaluated at day 10, months 2, 6 and 12 postoperatively. results: the mrse were -0.36±0.31 d in lm group, 0.15±0.41 d in ma group and 0.58±0.68 d in hm group. the uncorrected visual acuity (ucva) were 20/20 in 90.60% of patients in lm group, 78.90% in ma group and 67% in hm group. efficacy indices were 0.98, 1.04 and 0.92 in lm, ma and hm groups, respectively. safety indices were 1.00, 1.07 and 1.05 in lm, ma and hm respectively. five eyes (3.1%) in the lm group improved 1 line. forty-four eyes (27.3%) in ma gained 1-3 lines and 19.2 % of hm group gained 1-2 lines of bscva. only 2 eyes in lm group developed corneal haze. there were not significant statistically differences in efficacy and safety indices between three groups. conclusion: wavefront-guided lasek is an effective and safe procedure for the treatment of lm, ma, and hm. although predictability, efficacy and safety indices improved in myopic astigmatism.

laser in situ keratomileusis versus laser assisted subepithelial keratectomy for the correction of low to moderate myopia and astigmatism
purpose : to compare the visual and refractive outcomes of laser in situ keratomileusis (lasik) versus laser assisted subepithelial keratectomy (lasek) in the treatment of low to moderate myopia and astigmatism methods : a retrospective comparative case series study comprised 2,474 eyes of patients with manifest refraction spherical component lower than -5.00 diopters (d) and cylinder component...
متن کاملLaser intrastromal keratomileusis for high myopia and myopic astigmatism.
BACKGROUND Laser intrastromal keratomileusis (LASIK) is an evolving technique which enables high degrees of myopia (> 8.0 dioptres) and myopic astigmatism to be corrected. This paper describes initial experience with this procedure. It also details the methodology, the results, the problems encountered, and discusses retreatment procedures. METHODS 51 eyes (48 primary cases and three retreatm...
متن کاملFactors Affecting Long-term Myopic Regression after Laser In Situ Keratomileusis and Laser-assisted Subepithelial Keratectomy for Moderate Myopia.
PURPOSE High myopia is known to be a risk factor for long-term regression after laser refractive surgery. There have been few studies about the correction of moderate myopias that did not need retreatment after long-term follow-up. We evaluated 10 years of change in visual acuity and refractive power in eyes with moderate myopia after laser refractive surgery. METHODS We included patients tha...
متن کاملExcimer laser photorefractive keratectomy for high myopia.
One hundred and thirty-three eyes of 103 patients had photorefractive keratectomy with a slit scan mode excimer laser for myopia ranging from -6.00 to -22.00 diopters (D). The epithelium was removed with 20% ethanol, and the ablation was done with a tapered profile surrounding the optical zone. Patients were divided into two groups based on preoperative myopia: Group A, -6.00 D to -12.00 D (88 ...

purpose: to evaluate the results of laser in situ keratomileusis (lasik) retreatment in patients with postoperative regression. methods: in a retrospective interventional case series, 153 eyes of 113 patients who had undergone lasik retreatment for postoperative regression were evaluated. both initial lasik and retreatment were performed with a nidek: ec 5000 excimer laser, and flap was made w...
متن کاملWavefront-Guided versus Non-Wavefront-Guided Photorefractive Keratectomy for Myopia: Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
PURPOSE To compare the efficacy, predictability, safety, and induced higher-order aberrations (HOAs) between wavefront-guided and non-wavefront-guided photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). METHODS The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, PubMED, and EMBASE were searched for randomized controlled trials. Trials meeting the selection criteria were quality appraised, and data was extract...
